I Am, I Think!
Paul Arthur Davenport. Coulter 1935 (Oregon)
I Am, I Think!
I weigh up and over think, as my mighty thinker spins,
Offering worry and anxiety; even guilt nudges in.
A constant nagging, aggravating, empty chatter,
Trying to persuade me that life does really matter,
Urging me onward to greater things that might endure,
While thumping me to be mistake free, dampening its allure.
What is it in my thinking that leads to such distain?
Is there a scheme or purpose behind this pain?
Can I end this numbing, never-ending brutality?
Does my thinking thinker ever crave a quiet neutrality?
Frequently, pesky thinking bringing new insights appear,
Serving to confuse, baffle and heighten my doubt and fear.
If I am and I also think, it offers, consider this epiphany.
Are who we are and our outcomes really a part of our identity?
If so, how is who you are connected to what you think?
Or, are who I am and what I think even remotely linked?
Hmm, so my restricted thinker’s thinking is discouraging who I can be?
While my EGO thinkers thinking is feeding my fast spinning anxiety,
How confusing, too much thinking, enough of this self mutilating agony.
Why not lead in an excited way, I hear myself easily say and agree.
I’m inspired to regain my personal power and live my life more freely.
Being more bold, curious and imaginative while definitely thinking minimally!
